I love asparagus, especially fresh asparagus!
INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 pound asparagus, cut into 1-inch pieces
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups vegetable broth
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon dried sage
salt to taste
DIRECTIONS
Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir in asparagus and cook 5 minutes.
Sprinkle flour over asparagus, and toss to coat. Mix milk, vegetable broth and water into saucepan. Stir in Parmesan cheese, thyme, sage and salt. Cook 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve warm.
(I have not yet tested this recipe, but plan to soon. Reviews for this recipe strongly suggested cutting down on the liquids. I will make my suggestions after making it, but I plan to leave out the water, increase the asparagus and probably cut the milk in half)
